User Profile

I live near the east coast, U.S.A.I like to surf the internet, listen to music, and watch television, but those are not the only things I like, and I wouldn't want to do any of them 24 hours a day.  I feel the need to spend some of my time in places where there are no electrical outlets, telephones, roads, or motor vehicles.  I like to be in some place where I can see the sky, hear the birds sing, and hear the wind blowing through the trees.There are many things competing for our attention and it is easy to keep learning less and less about more and more things, but I believe it is very worthwhile to get to know certain people, places, and things very well, and that requires time and effort.Some topics of recent interest -  urban heat islands, urban sprawl, habitat fragmentation, El Nino events, environmental chemistry, hormone disruptors, and effects of invasive exotic species.
